The Gate Hotel in Asakusa is a fantastic choice, offering great convenience due to its proximity to the subway and excellent connections to central areas. Our room was spacious, with a comfortable bathroom and a good selection of amenities. The breakfast buffet featured a wide variety of high-quality options.

Awesome location. Really close to a couple of Subway lines with easy access to famous tourist points and attractions. One of the the most popular shrines in Tokyo, the Asakusa shrine is located just across the road. Starbucks is just next door, and lot of other eating places and restaurants all around the hotel. The hotel is close to the Ginza line and a few stops away from the Ueno station and park which is the get off point for the Zoo and a host of other museums. Another disxovery we had was that there is another line by which you can reach Akihabara which is just three stations away. We had earlier relied upon the Ginza line which took a longer route. The Tokyo skytree is also walking distance or can be reaches by the subway as well. The hotel itself is clean with great views from the lobby. The rooms on the lower floors are non smoking but don't have any views. The rooms are a bit small, but this is again expected for centrally located hotels in top cities. The staff is great and the breakfast is adequate = the options could come across as limited, but it's a pretty standard western fare. I also really liked the fact that the room had Nespresso machine with complimentary pods. Overall I would recommend the hotel both for the location and service.

This place knows what it's doing. Phenomenal. Huge room. Amazing bed. Fantastic location in a quieter part of Tokyo Asakusa. A phone power chord provided! An isolated, insulated shower & bath room, so nothing leaks! Incredible toiletries!

So close to Asakusa station and multiple entry and exit to subway. Great view of the tokyo sky tree. They also have a veranda but unfortunately didn’t get to go and see it. Nearby to convince store and tourist location such Senso-ji temple, tokyo skytree and kappanbashi. Lots of tourist so the reception speaks English very well. Also they do Luggage transfer to other hotels which was very convenient. As the stations got so many stairs and you don’t want to be dragging and lifting those luggages. Lastly, you can take the keikyu line from the airport (HND) straight to the asakusa station and probably its only 6-8 mins walk to the hotel.

Breakfast in The Gate Hotel Asakusa Kaminarimon by Hulic

This hotel is very new and has some added bonuses such as the stunning view from the lobby and the rooftop terrace which was lovely after a big day of walking. The hotel is a welcome retreat after a big day in Tokyo. For our last day it was perfect for the souvenir shopping around Sensoji Temple as the hotel is right across the road. We booked a premium twin room and had playoff space to organise luggage along with separate toilets to the bathroom and a cupboard. At first I was disappointed that the hotel didn’t have an onsen however the bathroom was set up like your private one complete with seperate bath and seat to sit on to wash prior to getting on the bath. special mineral salts were provided to add to the water. With two ladies and lots of luggage from our travels, we had an excellent last night of our holiday at this hotel. We didn’t eat at the hotel but the restaurant looked lovely.

Lobby or reception in The Gate Hotel Asakusa Kaminarimon by Hulic

I've stayed at this hotel many times over about the last ten years. This was my first stay after Covid, and I was worried there might have been changes toward the worse. Well, there hadn't! I only noticed a few minor changes (the squeezing of orange juice is now done out of view of the guests). There is a little bit more wear on the rooms, maybe. Generally, this hotel provides excellent value in rooms some of which are large and have views of the Skytree (one of my rooms---I moved around a bit---had two windows towards the Skytree, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom). The location, of course, is great, right across the street from the Thunder Gate (Kaminarimon) and an easy walk from Asakusa Station. But let me get to what this hotel is REALLY good at. The bar. Don't stay here if you don't like hotel bars---give someone else your spot. The bar is one of the best hidden secrets of Tokyo. It is intimate, open only to hotel guests, extremely fairly priced, and is staffed by at least two bartenders who are absolute artists. Just watch them preparing the ice... or making a simple drink, something as simple as a gin & tonic, with the care you'd expect to see someone using at NASA to assemble a Mars probe. They may not be the most adventurous drinks, but they are the most carefully made drinks I have ever seen anywhere---and at some of the most reasonable prices. And the view of the Skytree can't be beat. You can also take your drink out (have it delivered to you) on the heated patio (with an even slightly better view). Since the bar is only open to hotel guests, it is generally very quiet and relaxing. The bartenders are friendly and happy to try to converse in English. Oh, one improvement from years ago is that there's no longer any smoking indoors in the bar! Don't stay at this hotel without visiting the bar!!! And watch them make the drinks... and learn...!

The room and bathroom were spacious, especially for Tokyo standards. The beds were very comfortable and we loved using the pyjamas provided as well. The location of this hotel is probably its major perk. Its a stones throw from the beautiful Senso-ji Temple and the Tokyo Sky Tree is in view of some of the rooms and reception area. Its very near some good areas for shopping as well, probably quieter than Shibuya and Shinjuku stores and its ideal to pick up last minute souvenirs. Its less than a five minute walk to a metro station as well, so very accessible. We were able to get a direct train from this station to Haneda airport in less than an hour, so that was a major benefit with a lot of luggage too. We only stayed for one night but I wish it could have been for more so I would have explored more of the facilities the hotel had to offer!

Breakfast in The Gate Hotel Asakusa Kaminarimon by Hulic

I messaged the hotel prior to our stay and found the staff to be very helpful. The agent was able to make some very helpful recommendations on transportation from the airport via train, and she made taxi reservations for us to get to Yokohama for our cruise. The taxi service they selected for us was first class. The room was reasonably spacious ( we were in a deluxe room on high floor), though our son’s room was a standard double and it was rather small. Our bathroom was very nice. The bath amenities, coffee, and water bottles in the room were nice to have and were refreshed daily. The breakfast had a variety of hot and cold offerings. It was rather expensive if purchased separately, but was included in our room rate. We enjoyed it and were happy with the selections. The location was convenient to the metro and several restaurants. It was close to the Skytree, the Sensoji Temple and the river. The neighborhood was not as busy and noisy as other areas in Tokyo, so we were quite happy. We would not hesitate to stay there again.
